Polysorbate 80 is a synthetic nonionic surfactant and emulsifier used in cosmetics to bind oil and water. It stabilizes lotions, solubilizes essential oils, evenly disperses makeup pigments, and enhances texture in creams, shampoos, bath oils, and body sprays.
